24/7/365 Communications

The Bayport Fire District Communications and Dispatch Center is staffed 24 hours a day seven days a week by professional dispatchers. In addition to monitoring all neighboring Fire Departments, Police Activity and Marine activity, The Communications and Dispatch Center handles and dispatches all emergency and non emergency calls for the Bayport Fire Department and Community Ambulance Company. This makes the Bayport Fire Department Dispatch center one of the busiest in Suffolk County handling 3500-4000 calls per year.

The Bayport Fire Department Operates it's own UHF Frequency however Activates on the standard Suffolk County wide lo band. The Dispatch Center monitors and Transmits on 12 different lo band and UHF Frequencies varying from county and town to individual Fire/Rescue Agencies.

Who's who

The Bayport Fire Department holds annual elections on the first Thursday of December. These elections are not open to the public. Contestants are nominated the previous month (certain positions require prerequisites or qualifications) and then elected via popular vote the following month.

The Bayport Fire District Elections are held annually in December. Fire District Commissioner are elected public officials with 5 year terms that overlap each other. Currently there are 5 Commissioners positions. Persons interested in running for Fire Commissioner should contact the Connie Haab, Fire District Secretary at 472-0641. The Bayport Fire Department is a separate entity from the Bayport Fire District.
