| May 29, 2005: Bayport LINY. A boat slammed into a jetty by Brown’s River at 3:00 am Sunday morning. Upon arrival, second assistant Chief, Jason Feinberg, found two victims thrown from the boat clinging to a snow fence along the waters edge and trying to hold his friend afloat. Suffolk County police say after investigating the scene they arrested the driver of the boat, Paul Reeves from Sayville, and charged him with boating while intoxicated. The passenger in the boat that crashed was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital. The boat was found 500 feet east of the accident sunk in the Great South Bay. Mutual aide assistence was provided by Sayville and Patchogue Fire Departments and EMS provided by Community Ambulance. Command was under the authority of Chief John Hoek. The Bayport FD has already placed swimmers/divers in the water four times this year. |
