Tethered Line signals for Divers 

1 pull – face line and await instructions

2 pulls – proceed in or be pulled in

3 pulls - proceed out

4 pulls – swim left

5 pulls – swim right

6 pulls – victim found

7 pulls – diver to come to surface

 

4, 5, 4, 5  pulls – indicates diver in need of assistance, not life threatening – send backup diver and prepare 90% diver as backup diver

 

Quick succession of 6 pulls, 1 or more times  – indicates diver in need of immediate assistance, life threatening. Send backup diver and prepare 90% diver as backup
