C. Lee Rocshe 1929-2018

It is with deep regret we announce that 55 year member, C. Lee Rosche, has answered his last alarm on April 15, 2018. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Services were held at Raynor & D’Andrea West Sayville Funeral Home:
Friday 2-4:30 & 7-9:30pm
Firematic Service Friday at 8pm
Chapel Service Saturday, 11am at the Funeral Home.

Internment at St. Ann's in Sayville.

Ex Chief Richard Bernhard

May 9, 1931 - June 27, 2015

It is with deep regret that the Bayport Fire Department announces that Ex Chief Richard Bernhard has answered his last alarm. 

Richard Carl Bernhard, Sr., 84, of Wilmington, died Saturday, June 27, 2015, at his residence. He was born May 9, 1931, in Bayshore, NY, to the late Alf Bernhard and Iva Hinman Bernhard. Richard was a former fire chief and commissioner in Bayport, NY, where he owned his own real estate appraisal business. He was also employed with the savings and loan industry for many years.

Following retirement, he was a volunteer at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and was active at Wrightsville Beach United Methodist Church where he was an usher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda A. Rumbolo. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Grace Breen Bernhard; Kenneth R. Bernhard (Deborah) and Richard C. Bernhard, Jr.; grandchildren, Erik, Kathleen, Adam, Amanda, and Christina and a son-in-law, Gary Rumbolo.

Gasper "Gabby" Giarratano

1931 - February 7, 2014

It is with Deepest Regret that the Bayport Fire Department announces that Hose Company 39 year member, Gasper "Gabby" Giarratano,  has answered his last Alarm.  Gabby was literally an instrumental leader in the reformation of the BFD band in the 1990's ensuring that the Department was always able to march to his beat.  He was a dedicated member of the department even assisting during our last major snow standby.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
