First Engine lays 3 inch supply line from water source (Hydrant) to the fire scene.
Back Stretch

Second engine lays a 3 inch supply line from the first engine at the fire scene back to the hydrant (a second or different hydrant may be used also).

The second engine accepts water from the second quarter turn on the hydrant and charges the supply line that was dropped. The first engine is now receiving greater volume and pressure.

The second engine takes a 15' 3 inch length and attaches it from a discharge to the siamese intake and charges the line.

The second engine shuts off the first quarter turn and disconnects the first 15' pony length and attaches it to an intake. Once connected the line is charged. The second engine is now receiving water from both discharges on the hydrant and supplying the first engine with out having interupted the water flow.
