It is with deep regret we announce the passing of Engine Company No. 1 Ex Captain Howard Svendsen.
In Memory of Successful Blue Point Marina Owner, Howard Svendsen,78, longtime resident of Bayport, New York.
Howie, passed away after a long, brave battle with Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) cancer.
He is survived by his wife Florence of 60 years & 6 children, Daughter Debra Greiner (Kerry) Sons James (Corina), Daniel (Dawn), Jon ( Lori), daughter Donna Placente (Michael), and daughter Judy. 13 amazing grandchildren Greg, Michael, Ashley Eric, Kyle, Jacylnn, Jack, Patrick, Dane, Zachary, Rachel, James & Derek. Born in Valley Stream, NY where he started out as mechanic at Davison’s Boat Yard in East Rockwell. Moved to Suffolk County and built a successful marine business that grew over 50+ years. Formerly of Oakdale Yacht & Howie's Marine in Oakdale.
Owner of Blue Point Marina since 1980. Former Captain Oakdale Sportsmen Club. Avid fisherman and boating enthusiast. Cherished owner of his boat ODIN.
